Our Story

Flying Colors was established by Katie Scheel "Writer & Founder, Meghan Peterson "Proof Reader & Founder", Nathan Gille "Editor & Outliner" and Heath Ferry "Illustrator"  in 2011.

This is Flying Colors here is our story.
Imagine yourself coming from a foster home, being a child let go in hopes to find a better home. Imagine yourself lost in this world, without a friend with encouragement or a family to be loved by. Try to imagine. With Flying Colors we have created an outreach pen pal program to connect people around the US with foster children located around the country. The difference between this pen pal program compared to others is that Flying Colors is a domestic program. Rather than having our pen pals be international and focusing on the needs of those outside of our country, our focus is helping those who are living right here in our own. Our mission statement: We serve to use letters to impact the lives of foster children within the borders of America, to give them a piece of hope that puts a smile on their face during a time they need it most. We also serve to create and grow friendships between two different worlds, bringing them closer to one another and creating a friend along the way.

This is our story, Flying Colors uses letters to give foster children a friend and the hope to keep them going.
